I am a U.S. historian specializing in the North American West. In my research I focus on the history of  the relationships that formed between the people and places in the North American West and Great Plains. My scholarship takes into consideration the conflicted history of Indigenous-U.S. politics, women and gender relationships, and the development of tourism in America. I examine how these entities (government and industry) exploited Indigenous cultures, lands, labor, and gender roles to showcase a myth that celebrated western expansion and national identity.
